why i don´t list every villa in madeira on the website.

One of the questions I get asked most is why I don't simply put every villa on the website and let people choose.

It's a fair question.

After all, that's how most travel websites work. Hundreds of photographs, endless filters, and a strong possibility of losing an hour of your life comparing swimming pools. The thing is, I've never really believed that's the best way to choose where you're going to spend your time. Over the years, I've learned that people are rarely looking for a villa.

They're looking for a feeling.

Sometimes it's a week to switch off after a difficult year. Sometimes it's a birthday, an anniversary, or a chance to gather family who don't often find themselves in the same place at the same time. Sometimes people arrive not entirely sure what they're looking for, only knowing they need a break from whatever life has been throwing at them recently.

A villa is part of that story, but it isn't the whole story.

I've seen beautiful properties that were completely wrong for the people staying in them. I've also seen guests fall in love with homes they would probably have scrolled straight past online. That's why I start somewhere else.

I want to know how you like to spend your mornings. Whether you're the sort of person who is happiest halfway up a mountain by 8am or still lingering over a second coffee at 11. Whether a perfect day involves movement, conversation, quiet, food, sea air, or a little bit of everything.

Only then do I start thinking about where you should stay. Some homes suit long lunches and slow afternoons. Others are perfect for families who spend very little time indoors. Some work beautifully for couples looking for privacy. Others come alive when filled with friends.

The right villa isn't always the biggest one, the most expensive one, or the one with the infinity pool that photographs particularly well.

It's the one that fits the stay you're hoping to have.

Which is probably a longer answer than you expected to a fairly simple question.

But then again, I've never been very good at reducing Madeira to a list of filters.

If you´re planning time in Madeira and aren´t quite sure where to begin, tell me a little about the kind of stay you´re looking for, I´ll take it from there .
